Kill Mexican Bean Beetles

Get Rid of the Mexican Bean Beetle Naturally Without Chemical Pesticides Using Our Organic Cedar Oil Insecticide

Mexican bean beetles look curiously like lady beetles, oval shaped and bearing eight black spots on each forewing. Their plump yellow larva sets them apart. Larvae can be yellowish to orange with no legs and six rows of branching spines. Adults can vary in color from bright red, rusty brown or golden yellow. Both larvae and adults feed from the underside of leaves between veins. Holes in ravaged leaves often form a characteristic lacy appearance.

Row covers can prevent new beetles from moving into specific territories, but they do nothing to kill eggs or wipe out existing beetles feeding on plants. For this reason, it’s beneficial to treat plants with a good organic pesticide that won’t destroy vegetables, taint crops and eventually harm humans.

While many essential oils are used against Mexican bean beetles in organic farming applications, our cedar oil formulation is among the most powerful. Cedar oil is a BASE NOTE. In the world of aroma therapy and perfume making, a top note is defined as the first scent you detect in a perfume blend. The base note is the lingering essence that stays with you long after the top note has faded!

Adult Mexican bean beetles overwinter in garden debris and leaf litter. Some emerge to feed in the spring while others come out at different times that span an entire growing season. Females lay eggs in clusters of 50 to 75 on bean plant leaves. A good soil soak early in the spring with ongoing monthly treatment of plants is recommended.

Our Formula Works in Many Ways:

  • Repels a wide variety of insects with an intense cedar aroma
  • Erodes the exoskeleton of insects, contributing to early demise
  • Dissolves eggs on contact, but not by proximity. (Eggs must come in direct contact with the formula, not just the vapors.)
  • Masks the scent trails that many insects use to communicate, coordinate and flourish
  • Discourages new insects from moving into treated territory
